Legal Incumbent of Office

If a Chief Justice, Associate Justice or Judge is a candidate for re-election, the word « incumbent » shall be printed after the name of that judge as a candidate. The official ballot contains the names of all candidates for each judicial office and the number of candidates for whom an elector may vote. Each seat of an associate judge, associate judge or district court judge must be numbered. The words « Supreme Court », « Court of Appeal » and « (number) District Court » must be printed on the ballot above the respective groups of judges. The title of each judicial office is printed on the official ballot for primaries and general elections as follows: The 22nd Amendment to the United States Constitution was passed in 1947 and ratified in 1951.
