Co-op assignment schedules are set by employers and are subject to student terms and conditions and performance. The duration of use cannot be guaranteed. After accepting a collaborative experience approved by the Engineering Career Center, students are added to a canvas course for semesters of co-op work that may be accessible to assignments. Students who voluntarily take a leave of absence are not fully enrolled students. This can have academic, registration, granting, visa and other implications. Learn more about co-op program options available in all fields of study. Relocation Most cooperative missions are located in the New York/New Jersey area, within a reasonable commuting distance.
Some quality opportunities occur outside the state and require a move. In some cases of moving, the employer may subsidize housing costs or have arranged low-cost housing for co-op students, help you find housing, or help you pay for relocation costs. The type and scope of support varies from employer to employer, so make sure you have a clear understanding of your employer-provided relocation benefits before accepting a position that requires a move. Because co-op participants are enrolled in absentia during their fall or spring co-op program, it is not possible to be enrolled in Cornell courses at the same time, even online or asynchronous courses. Some co-op students have in the past received pre-approval for transfer loans for 1-2 courses taken part-time by another university during the co-op program. * If you have an on-campus housing contract, the housing office will exempt you from your on-campus housing contract if you inform them of the acceptance of a co-op. For a fall co-op, the housing authority recommends that you notify them before July 1. For a spring co-op, notify them before December 1. Students who complete at least three periods of work will receive a « cooperative certification » at the end of the AU. Many employers recognize this certification as an outstanding achievement and offer higher salaries to students who complete the co-op program.
Some states accept technical cooperative work experience related to professional licensing requirements. If you plan to take Cornell Summer Courses to cooperate, you should consult Financial Aid well in advance of summer school to review your summer financial aid options. On-campus housing: During your co-op`s working hours, call the rpcC Housing Office (607-255-5368) to request on-campus housing upon your return. You will then be placed on a waiting list for on-campus accommodations that become available. This program is an experience recorded on the transcript and offers an academic certificate at the end. Students enroll in a co-op course with a special fee of $400 while attending each work session. This course is designed to maximize the student experience and support professional development and career preparation. This special rate allows students to maintain their status on a full-time basis, which contributes to student loan insurance and goals. Normal tuition fees are only charged on campus. Click here to view co-op program sheets by program of study {Check with the Office of the Dean of Engineering for recent changes} Professional interview behavior You must comply with NJIT`s cooperative policies and procedures. prepare you for the interview process and accurately present your qualifications and interests; Ask for job opportunities for co-op positions that are usually of interest to you; Respect all interview schedules; Inform career development organizations and services of the acceptance or rejection of offers as soon as possible and no later than the jointly agreed start date; comply with an accepted offer of cooperation (written or oral) as a contractual agreement; withdraw from the interview process after accepting an offer of employment; and notify Career Development Services and any employer with whom you have a pending job offer or scheduled interview of your decision. For all undergraduate, graduate and graduate students, you must be currently enrolled in a program of study at NJIT for the entire period of a cooperative assignment.
